Sacred Heart of Jesus

Ramon Mescallado 23 June 2009 Devotions No Comment

The Sacred Heart of Jesus is a devotion to Jesus Christ, consisting of worship of Him through His heart as representing His love shown in the Incarnation, His Passion and death, the institution of the Eucharist.  The devotion is centered on reparation to Christ for man’s ingratitude, manifested particularly by indifference to the Holy Eucharist.   The worship is not directed to the Heart alone, but to the Person of Jesus Christ.

A feast, requested by Our Lord Himself, commemorates the unrequited love of the Sacred Heart in the Eucharist and is celebrated on the Friday (June 19th in 2009) after the feast of Corpus Christi.

Enthronement of the Sacred Heart in the home is the acknowledgement of the sovereignty of Christ over the family.  It is expressed through solemn installation by the head of the family of a representation of the Sacred Heart in a place of honor, together with an act of consecration, in the presence of the entire family.  cf  The Catholic Encyclopedia, Revised and Updated Edition 1987

Our Lord started appearing  to Saint Margaret Mary at the Visitation convent in Paray-le-Monial, France in 1673.   During the octave of Corpus Christi in1676, Our Lord made twelve (12) promises:

1.  “I will give them all the graces necessary in their state of life.”

2.  “I will establish peace in their homes.”

3.  “I will comfort them in their afflictions.”

4.  “I will be their secure refuge during life, and above all in death.”

5.  “I will bestow a large blessing upon all their undertakings.”

6.  “Sinners shall find in My Heart the source and the infinite ocean of mercy.”

7.   “Tepid souls shall grow fervent.”

8.  “Fervent souls shall quickly mount to high perfection”

9.  “I will bless every place where a picture of My Heart shall be set up and honored.”

10.  “I will give priests the gift of touching the most hardened hearts.”

11.  “Those who shall promoted this devotion shall have their names written in My Heart, never to be blotted out.”

12.  “I promise thee in the excessive mercy of My Heart that my all-powerful love will grant to all those who commjnicate on the First Friday in nine consecutive monhts, the grace of final penitence; they shall not die in My disgrace nor without receiving the Sacraments; My Divine Heart shall be thier safe refuge in this last moment.”

DAILY RENEWAL OF THE CONSECRATION OF THE FAMILY

Most  Sweet Jesus humbly kneeling at Thy feet, we renew the consecration of our family to Thy Divine Heart.  Be Thou our King forever!  In Thee we have full and entire confidence.  May Thy spirit penetrate our thoughts, our desires, our words and our deeds.  Bless our undertakings, share in our joys, in our trials and in our labors.  Grant us to know Thee better, to love Thee more, to serve Thee without faltering.

By the Immaculate Heart of Mar ay, Queen of Peace, set up Thy Kingdom in our country.  Enter closely into the midst of our families and make them Thine own through the solemn Enthronement of the Sacred Heart, so that soon one cry may resound from home to home:  May the triumphant Heart of Jesus be everywhere loved, blessed and glorified forever!  Honor and glory to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary!

Sacred Heart of Jesus, protect our families.                     cf  The Catechism of Enthronement (Philippines) ca 1949
